Belgium broadcaster picks up Nutz Productions’ THE GREENHOUSE, SPELL KEEPERS and BED & BISCUIT
18 December 2018 – The Kids’ division of leading global producer and distributor Keshet International (KI) has signed another high-volume licensing deal for three of live-action tweens’ and teens’ finished series totaling 188 hours of content.
KI has licensed Belgium broadcaster Medialaan all three seasons of the Israeli ratings record-breaking daily-drama THE GREENHOUSE (175×22’), three seasons of the live action series SPELL KEEPERS (150×22’) and three seasons of the sitcom BED & BISCUIT (totaling 51×22’).  All of these Hebrew language shows originally premiered on Nickelodeon Israel and Teen Nick exclusively on Yes TV and are produced by Nutz Productions, a subsidiary of the multi-channel media group Ananey Communications.
This is the first time Medialaan has picked up any Hebrew-language live action kids’ series, and it follows hot on the heels of KI’s recent agreements with HBO for all three series of both THE GREENHOUSE (175×22’) and SPELL KEEPERS (150×22’), and SIC for three series of BED & BISCUIT (totaling 51×22’) and the first series of SPELL KEEPERS (50×22’).
These three high-volume deals follow KI’s recent strategic move into the kids’ market, first launching a dedicated kids’ division headed by new hire Nicola Andrews, and then establishing an on-going content partnership with Ananey Communications Group – Israel’s leading kids’ content provider – to bring teens’, tweens’ and kids’ programming to a wider global audience.
Nicola Andrews, KI’s Senior Sales and Commercial Director, Kids says, “It is exciting to see there is a growing appetite for high-quality foreign language finished series internationally, particularly amongst broadcasters looking for high-volume deals.”
Medialaan’s Head of Kids, Serge Van Eyck says, “As a leading TV broadcaster in Belgium we are delighted to work together with Keshet International and are convinced that these high-quality and high-volume live action series will appeal to a wide audience.  We believe that the stories told in these series are universal and will be warmly appreciated by our Belgian kids.”
Orly Atlas-Katz, CEO Ananey Communications Group says, “We are delighted to witness, again and again, the way in which kids and teens around the world embrace our original award winning productions and fall in love with them, just as kids and teens in Israel did.”
Created by Giora Chamizer, THE GREENHOUSE (S1, S2 and S3, totaling 175×22’) centers on a brother and sister who, after losing their mother in a spaceship crash, arrive at an elite boarding school for gifted future leaders: The Greenhouse. They join two competing houses within the school but, only by joining forces can they save the country from a disaster.
Based on original idea by Sivan Shiknagy and Einat Shahak and created by Michal Cooper-Keren, SPELL KEEPERS (S1, S2 and S3, totaling 150×22’) is an exciting, mysterious and fantastical daily-drama series focusing on two strong and determined female heroines – Kirki and Laila. The Spell Keepers are a secret group of good witches called Kadabras, whose role is to protect humanity from supernatural creatures who threaten to harm them. Together, they are the strongest force in the supernatural world.
Created by Hagit Bilia and Lior Kfir, BED & BISCUIT (S1, S2 and S3, totaling 51×22’) is a sitcom for younger kids, which takes place in a family-run boarding kennel for dogs in a small village in Israel. Moti is a mediocre lawyer who has had enough of the big city and wants to live a simpler life and spend more time with his only daughter Ori. Together, the energetic father and smart and funny daughter make the move into the country to run their family business – a dog kennel.

Sophie Cookson, James Norton, Emilia Fox and Ben Miles lead stellar
cast in BAFTA award-winning novelist Amanda Coe’s six-part drama for

London, Wednesday 5th December 2018:
BBC One, Ecosse Films and Great Meadow today announce that Sophie Cookson
(Kingsman: The Secret Service, Gypsy, Red Joan) leads the cast in the role of Christine
Keeler. James Norton (McMafia, War and Peace, Happy Valley) stars opposite
Cookson in the role of Stephen Ward together with Ellie Bamber (Les Miserables,
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, Nocturnal Animals) as Mandy Rice-Davies. Ben
Miles (The Crown, The Last Post) will play John Profumo and Emilia Fox (Silent
Witness, Delicious) stars as Valerie Profumo. Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (Angels in
America, Mope) plays Johnny Edgecombe and Anthony Welsh (Journeyman, Black
Mirror, Starred Up) plays Aloysius “Lucky” Gordon.

Written by BAFTA award-winning novelist and screenwriter Amanda Coe (Apple Tree
Yard, Room at the Top, Life in Squares) and directed by Andrea Harkin (Come Home,
Clique), The Trial of Christine Keeler takes a fresh look at one of the most infamous
British stories: the chain of events in the 1960s that came to be known as the
‘Profumo affair’.

At the centre of the storm was 19-year-old Christine Keeler (Cookson) – a young
woman whom the powerful, male-dominated establishment sought to silence and
exploit, but who refused to play by their rules.
The Trial of Christine Keeler takes us behind the headlines to tell a human story
about the sexual and cultural politics of one of the most revealing and iconic stories
of modern times.

Filming began this week in Bristol.

On being cast as Christine Keeler, Cookson says: “I’m delighted to be playing
Christine Keeler in this new drama. Amanda Coe has written an illuminating script
about a vivid, complex woman who has previously, it seems, been reduced and
misunderstood. Now feels like the perfect time to reconsider her life, and redress
the balance.”

On being cast as Stephen Ward, Norton says: “I’m delighted to be working with the
BBC on this fantastic drama. The opportunity to play Stephen Ward alongside this
stellar cast and crew is something I’m really looking forward to.”

Kate Triggs, Executive Producer for Ecosse Films says: “I am thrilled that Amanda’s
wonderful scripts have attracted such an exciting and stunning cast. They all bring
something unique and fresh to the story and will be so compelling to watch. Sophie
Cookson is the perfect Christine, embodying all her complexity and incredible spirit”.

Piers Wenger, Controller of BBC Drama, said, “Casting actresses who could
authentically convey the age and experience of the young women at the centre of
this piece was key to achieving Amanda’s vision for this story. I’m delighted that we
have two actresses of such calibre in the roles of Christine and Mandy, and actors of
real skill and complexity in James and Ben, to play alongside them.”

The Trial of Christine Keeler is an Ecosse Films and Great Meadow co-production for
BBC One. The executive producers are Kate Triggs and Douglas Rae for Ecosse Films,
Amanda Coe and Lucy Richer for BBC. Rebecca Ferguson will produce.

The series is commissioned by Charlotte Moore, Director of BBC Content, and Piers
Wenger, Controller of BBC Drama.

Keshet International will distribute internationally, while working alongside
Endeavor Content to co-distribute the six-part series in the US.

The Trial Of Christine Keeler is the first title to benefit from financial support from
the KI Content Fund. Launched earlier in March this year by Keshet International
with several of Israel’s largest holding and asset management companies, KI’s 5 year
content fund aims to bring high-profile projects with global appeal to a wider
audience by also utilizing KI’s worldwide distribution prowess.

I brings an acclaimed slate of finished series and formats from around the world, including Stockholm, which premiered at Toronto International Film Festival, new talent format Showdown Aviv/Eyal and Series Mania selected Autonomies.

Thursday 4 October 2018 – Global content company Keshet International (KI) today reveals its selected of programming for MIPCOM 2018. The diverse slate consists of new quality finished tape series and formats, including 21 new titles across high-end drama productions and factual series, entertainment formats, and kids and teens content.

Two Israeli titles headline KI’s scripted slate: firstly Stockholm, a darkly comedic series inspired by the bestselling novel from Noa Yedlin, which debuted to critical acclaim at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The black comedy, produced by Artza Productions for KAN and Keshet 12, follows the story of a leading contender for the Nobel Prize in Economics who is found dead in his bed of an apparent heart attack just five days before the winners are announced.

KI’s second scripted highlight is Autonomies, a dystopian drama produced by United Studios of Israel for HOT, and penned by Shtisel creators Yehonatan Indursky and Ori Elon.  Selected to premiere at Series Mania, this captivating and globally relevant tale explores the burning issues of identity, religion, politics and personal freedom and features a stellar cast. Other scripted highlights include second series of both The Paper, produced by Drugi Plan for Croatia’s HRT, and also False Flag, produced by Masha Productions for Keshet 12.

Showdown – Aviv/Eyal tops KI’s list of entertainment formats for MIPCOM 2018, having debuted successfully on Keshet 12 this summer. Produced by Tedy Productions, this primetime series sees two of the country’s most popular performers take their well-known rivalry to another level in a bid to discover the next great singing talent.  Celebrity also takes centre stage in Anna’s 12 Steps to Love, a docu-reality series produced by Koda Communications for Keshet 12’s autumn schedule, which follows Anna Aronov, a professional dancer and one of Israel’s most eligible singles, on her authentic journey to find love.

KI’s slate continues to be bolstered with an exceptionally strong selection of non-scripted formats and finished tape titles being brought to market from the independent production companies supported by Greenbird Media, the UK production company incubator in which KI recently acquired a majority stake. From UK producer Tuesday’s Child Television comes Playlisters, an addictive and engaging music game show format where you can’t help but play and sing along. Three couples compete for a chance to win the grand prize and each round is designed to bring hit after hit from different genres and decades.

KI’s format slate also features two new formats from British entertainment indie Rumpus Media: Personal Dater, a returnable dating series that pits a singleton’s best friends against a computer algorithm; and Playing For Time, a funny and nostalgic talk show hosted by comedian Rob Beckett that travels through the decades to reminisce about recent history through the evolution of gaming.

KI’s varied factual finished tape slate includes Trucking Hell, a new 10-part series from Crackit Productions for Channel 5, where heavy rescue company, Crouch Recovery, risk life and limb to perform extreme rescue missions and keep Britain’s roads moving in this rare glimpse into the bustling world of heavy vehicle rescue.  Featuring alongside is Channel 4’s controversial factual series, Busing (working title) from Top Hat Productions, which – inspired by social engineering experiments from the 60s – exchanges pupils from an all-white school with those from an all-Asian school to overcome social and cultural divides.

Other factual finished tape highlights include Crackit Productions’ Trauma Team, a heart-warming four-parter that gives viewers an exclusive look into the daily operations of an emergency room; Maagalot Productions’ true crime documentary series Behind the Mask: The Youth Center Case, a gripping portrait of modern life in Tel Aviv which reopens the unsolved case of the tragic crime that shocked one of the world’s most liberal cities; and DNA Productions and United King Films’ Rescue Bus 300, an intense docu-drama revealing the inside story of the real-life hijacking and rescue of 41 innocent passengers and the driver of the bus in Israel in 1984.

As KI continues to build its kids programming slate, it brings Elvis and Benny, a 26×6’ non-dialogue animated series, to MIPCOM. From Haptic BVBA for Spain’s TV3 and Belgium’s VTMKids, this wacky buddy comedy helps kids come to terms with the heart-warming message that no matter how strange and diverse you seem to be, everyone can understand each other.

Keren Shahar, COO and President of Distribution, Keshet International, said: “We’re coming to MIPCOM with a very diverse slate of entertainment formats for every slot as well as compelling dramas and factual shows. Finished tape is a big focus for us this year, in particular factual and foreign dramas. Our new relationship with Greenbird Media and its partner production companies means we have lots of brand new factual English language finished tape from some of the best in the business.”

Keshet International can be found at stand number R8.C9 at MIPCOM and full details on all programmes included within the slate can be found below:

This is India’s first deal for a Hebrew language series.

A gripping series that inspired the Emmy® award-winner Homeland, Prisoners of War (Hatufim) is a drama about three Israeli soldiers who were captured 17 years ago while on a secret mission. Originally commissioned by Keshet Broadcasting, the story begins with their return home after years of negotiations for their freedom. Arpit Agarwal, Head of India and SAARC, Keshet International, said: “We are thrilled to have signed India’s very first deal for a Hebrew language series. Keshet’s original series has already proved to be a hit with audiences around the globe, and here in India, spawned Star TV’s highly acclaimed local adaptation POW –Bandi Yuddh Ke. We hope this deal will introduce viewers to our high-quality slate of scripted content from around the world and that it will be the first of many more series sold here.”

Tata Sky, leading the game in bringing curated international language content for viewers, believes Prisoners of War (Hatufim) will have a successful run in India. Arun Unni, Chief Content Officer at Tata Sky said, “In today’s day and age, both viewers and we look for access to good, intriguing content, irrespective of language barriers. Mythological Ex and The A Word to be adapted for Mexico, following previous orders for Loadedand Easy Money

19 July 2018 – Global content, media producer and distributor Keshet International (KI) has licensed toTelevisa two additional scripted formats, Mythological Ex and The A Word, to be adapted for audiences in Mexico.

These two most recent orders are part of a larger strategic multi-project partnership in which the Mexico-based media giant commits to acquire rights to adapt four of KI’s scripted formats.

As with the two previous deals – for the comedy dramas Loaded and Easy Money, locally entitled MINT (10 x 60’) and Mita y Mita (13 x 30’) respectively – both these latest Spanish language adaptations will be broadcast in Mexico.

Based on the Israeli series created and written by Segahi Avin, Mythological Ex (13 x 30’) is a comedy-drama which centres on a woman who – after a psychic tells her she’s already dated her future husband, and that she’ll remain single unless she can locate him within the next 12 months – decides to revisit all her past relationships to determine who was, and will be, the love of her life. Through a light blend of hilarious, heartfelt and hair-raising moments, each episode revolves around a new date with an old flame. It is anticipated that Mythological Ex will premiere later this year in a late-night comedy slot on Televisa’s flagship free to air channel, Las Estrellas.

The A Word is KI’s hit drama focusing on a family’s painful, and often humorous, journey of denial and introspection after their 5-year old son is diagnosed with autism. Based on the award-winning Israeli drama Yellow Peppers, originally created, written and directed by Keren Margalit, the UK adaptation of this heart-warming and emotionally engaging series for BBC One has run to two series and sold in over 80 territories to date, including the US (SundanceTV, Amazon, iTunes), Australia and New Zealand (BBC Australia), Sweden (SVT) and Brazil (Globosat).  Televisa’s adaptation is expected to total 41 x 60’ episodes.

Kelly Wright, KI’s VP of Distribution and New Business, Latin America says, “We’ve loved the way Televisa’s visionary scripted team has already adapted Loaded and Easy Money, and we’re really looking forward to seeing how they work their magic on Mythological Ex and The A Word.  Their adaptations are bold, stylish and bear the Televisa hallmark of warm, laugh-out-loud crowd-pleasers.”
